Dallas Market debuts magazine for retailers, revamps temp show

Staff -- Home Accents Today, 12/1/2005

Dallas Market Center has introduced a direct-mail custom magazine targeted to both fashion and home accent/gift retailers with an initial mailing to 60,000 retail stores.

The all-editorial magazine titled InStore focuses on practical business topics to help retailers improve their businesses. It will be published each January, April, July and October.

"We feel a strong partnership with the retailers who shop Dallas and are committed to helping them be successful," said Jane Robertson, senior vice president of marketing at DMC. "InStore offers lots of practical advice for quick results. Our goal is to provide buyers with useful, timely information in a stylish, engaging format."

The several editorial departments, all of which are formatted with the IN name, cover product and color trends, merchandising and display, inventory and finance, sales, marketing and promotion, and personnel and staffing. A profile of a successful retailer also is included.

Early response from retailers indicates the publication is being well received.

"I want to tell you how valuable and how well-done your InStore market center magazine Autumn 2005 was," said Donna King of The Side Door in Wysetta, Minn. "It was absolutely excellent. This was one of the neatest, helpful magazines we have gotten."

Brenham, Texas retailer Debbie Herring was enthusiastic about the magazine and its value to her employees. "It's definitely something I'm going to share with my employees and my husband — he needs to know a little about this business as well."

In other news, DMC will debut its new gift and home temporary show, F!NDS, in January.

The 500,000-sq.-ft. show will take place Jan. 20–23 during the Dallas January Super Market. More than one-third of the exhibitors are first-timers for Dallas.

"The response to F!NDS has been extremely positive, and we are thrilled with the high level of new resources," said Georgia Davis, executive vice president of Dallas Market Center. "Retailers who shop Dallas will find more new product to remain competitive and grow their businesses."

F!NDS will take place each January, March, June and September.
