Do you sometimes wish you could sit down with a good designer and talk about things? You know, trends or colors or problems — whatever.
Well, now you can. Actually, now we can on your behalf. We have a new feature called Insight (see page 122), which will be published several times a year. Retail editor Lisa Casinger came up with the idea
as a way to freshen up our designer feature, which regularly appears on that page.
This month's question about 2006 trends and colors generated some fascinating answers. Two of our designers agree on the importance of black and another two suggest the growing strength of warm colors. To that extent they agree, but there are important differences in how they interpret the trend.
It's good reading.
Lisa has enlisted quite an impressive list of designers for the year. Six well-known folks are quoted this month — Dorian Webb, Nina Campbell, Doug Wilson, Liora Manne, Mark Abrams and Jonathan Adler. Others who also will offer opinions during the year are Paul Thompson, David Landis, Rick Janosek, Carla Zajac and James Slaven.
That's quite a stable of talent and, if this month is a measure, there is much good information to be shared. We hope you enjoy it.
And by the way, if you have a question you'd like Lisa to ask, send her an e-mail (lcasinger@reedbusiness.com) or call her (336-605-1115).
It's January and show time — see you at the markets.
