Salt Lake City retailer Mt. Timber Furnishings has opened the first Unique Living by Shadow Mountain.
The three-store chain has been in its 12,000-sq.-ft. location for two years, which includes the 3,500-sq.-ft. dedicated Shadow Mountain furniture and lighting gallery. The second gallery is set for the Park City, Utah, location this month, followed by the Fraser, Colo., location later in 2006.
The Unique Living Gallery concept consists of Shadow Mountain bedroom, dining room, occasional, upholstery, accent furniture and coordinating lighting. Chad Turney, Shadow Mountain president and CEO, said the gallery concept, introduced in October, is a valuable step in the company's brand-building initiative.
"We're a real niche line with our look," Turney said. "This year we launched our case goods line, so now we're a full-line resource. We needed to show all products together to tell the story and bring the whole environment together."
Mt. Timber Furnishings has carried Shadow Mountain since the company began and is its largest dealer.
The gallery program not only allows retailers to show all of Shadow Mountain product in one place, it also is tied to a direct container program.
Unique Living by Shadow Mountain galleries require retailers to devote a minimum of 800 square feet in which they show three collections completely accessorized. To qualify for the direct container program, retailers have to buy four containers a year; if they maintain a gallery, they can get the container discount and keep buying from the warehouse at the container price.
