Nailhead trim hits the spot, lending antiqued appeal with a strong presence. Popular on wall decor frames and reproduction furniture, the nailhead effect even made an appearance in ceramic patterning on tabletop items. For an updated take on the trend, nickel nailhead trim appears paired with leather or on soft goods for a rock-edge. Chelsea House
East Meets WestIndochine is the next horizon for cross-cultural affairs, combining the exotic charm of Asian with high-style European. Fretwork, lacquer and intricate details spice up furniture designs, vibrantly turned out in a rich, mysterious palette. Look for these alluring designs to gain in presence over time.
Cloisonné Chic
Ancient techniques are reworked with modern polish and a hip vibe. Repeating geometric patterning adds an updated look to the enamel decoration on tabletop and lighting designs. Pulling from the growing Indochine look, cloisonné meets Asian and French inspirations. Jamie Young
Fab Florals
Exquisitely rendered prints draw on the sensual side of Asian. Bold blossoms and blooms up the sophistication factor with a heady bouquet of sex appeal. Sultry as opposed to sweet, favored flowers this season include rambling roses, lush orchids and cherry blossoms. Art Evolution
Luxe LaceTouches of lace luxe up the home with an elegant femininity. The old-fashioned handi-work doesn't have to appear as a woven textile, but also ups the style quotient when the pattern appears as a print on silks or tabletop items. Not only shown in pristine white or soft ivory, lace really shows off in hues like black and metallic gold or silver.
Enchanted Forest
Set in a mystical woodland, nature comes full circle with a contemporary patchwork of trees, birds, branches and faux bois elements. When applied to furniture and lighting designs, the result is organic and sculptural. When finished in the gleaming ore of metal or pure glossy white, the look becomes naturally ethereal. Arteriors
Dynamite DuosWhite-hot combinations strike a balance between chic and contemporary this season. White's ongoing popularity sizzles even brighter when paired in shimmery combos of white/silver and white/gold. The flash of metal adds a hip, edgy vibe perfect for making modern patterns pop.
Monarchal Motifs
French inspirations continue to reign, highlighting Neoclassic looks made modern. Louis XVI holds court over furniture and accent designs with typical savoir faire. New to the mix is an emphasis on singularly chic motifs: crowns, crests, fleur de lis and Napoleonic bees set accents abuzz in royal fashion. Art Dreams Home
Mellow YellowAnything but, this bold spring hue adds a vibrant touch to accessories in shades of daffodil, canary and marigold. When paired in black, brown and white combos yellow really pops. It also works in combination with the softer ocean hues of pale blue and aqua, warming them up for a spring treat.
Coastal Class
Nautical and beach themes make a splash with designs ranging from organic to playful. What began two years ago with coral branching out into shells, has now penetrated every category for a fully coordinated look or a smart visual pop with just a piece or two. Inspirations range from nostalgic '20s French Riviera and rugged Americana sailing to hippie-chic '70s Palm Beach. Lampe Berger
