Abbyson debuts furniture collection

Debuts Park Ave. Collection

-- Home Accents Today, 8/1/2005

Abbyson, known for manufacturing 100% handmade Tibetan rugs, is premiering the company’s first furniture collection here this week.

“We feel that we’ve established ourselves in the area rug market so we’re excited to move into new territories,” said Yavar Rafieha, vice president of marketing and sales for Abbyson. “Not many rug manufacturers venture into the furniture business, but we feel the addition of classic furniture will allow us to better serve our customers. We can now supply them with all their home furnishings needs, people are so busy today that “one stop shopping” is crucial.”

The debut furniture collection consists of 14 series of furniture for the living, dining  and bedroom and home office, all named after New York themes. The collection includes both case goods and upholstery, ranging from accent tables and chairs to entertainment centers and upholstered beds. The look of the furniture has a modern appeal with sleek lines and clean silver hardware offering a geometric flair. Fabrics remain neutral and solid leaving the attention to detail in wood trim and finishes.

Abbyson plans to use the existing corporate office in Chatsworth, Calif., as a furniture sales headquarters and shipping/storage facility. Raffaella Mazzola, who was hired as the furniture director, heads the Park Avenue Collection. Mazzola has owned her own furniture showroom and has experience in furniture design. Recent offices having been developed in China to oversee quality control and offer direct communication with the U.S. office. Abbyson’s salespeople will be trained to sell both the area rug program as well as the furniture.

Abbyson is targeting furniture retailers and interior designers with the new Park Avenue Collection.

“We have a great deal of existing customers that are excited for the release of Park Avenue,” Rafieha said. “We are always looking for new potential customers though. In general we are targeting consumers who value quality, style and excellent prices.”

Abbyson plans to bring a limited amount of furniture to its rug showroom at the High Point International Home Furnishings Market this fall. Their Las Vegas showroom, WMC 133, is in the Design Center so it will be open year round for buyers who visit Las Vegas.
