Lapin Vilardi's fun and funky travel carryalls combine style with necessity in one chic little package. Comprising shoe bags, laundry bags and lingerie bags as well as lavender sachets, cosmetic sets and jewelry rolls, these handy hide-aways come in an array of pretty prints. Nolita, an urbane black and white floral, and Cliff, lime appliquéd linen with contrast cotton stripe lining, are set off by sunny daisy-printed Berkeley and dramatic, stylized Chinatown. eLink 537

Working Class Studio, a contemporary lifestyle line designed by students from the Savannah College of Art and Design, marked its debut at the Atlanta Gift Show this past January. The product development venture, which is three years in the making, brings to fruition the work of student artists such as pop artish bird- and floral-printed pillows, motif-laden trays and graphically patterned journals. The original prototypes are designed and produced in the college's Working Class Studio workshop, with the students entering the manufacturing process by sourcing production facilities. Retail prices range from $7 to $150. eLink 535

Shannon Koszyk and Deanna DiBene, co-owners of Testa Dura (translating to hard-headed in Italian), combined their love of fashion and vintage textiles into a collection of fashion-savvy pillows that really dress up a place. "Instead of wearing a diamond choker when you dress up," Koszyk said, "It's the ultimate accessory for your home." Harking back to 1920s Paris and other equally glamorous eras, Testa Dura designs are studded with vintage crystal brooches, handmade flowers and embroidered coats of arms — all infused with a modern-day, pop sensibility that feels thoroughly relevant. Appropriately enough, the Couture (one-of-a-kind) line is made of vintage fabrics and accessories ($298 to $450), while the Ready-to-Wear ($136 to $300) production line features fabrics with a vintagey feel. "We love the pop culture mixed with vintage," Koszyk explained, "because we live in today and want something that looks fresh and new." eLink 536

Designer Thomas O'Brien approached his new collection of hand-knotted Tibetan rugs for Safavieh with the same attention of a wordsmith to his craft.Aero Smith

Designer Thomas O'Brien approached his new collection of hand-knotted Tibetan rugs for Safavieh with the same attention of a wordsmith to his craft. O'Brien, founder of interior design firm Aero Studios and proprietor of SoHo-based hip retail store Aero, gained a broad, popular scope with his recently launched Vintage Modern Collection for Target. The designer's signature blend of old and new anchored by understated elegance is exquisitely present in the wool and silk designs, ranging from lavish freeform florals to Art Deco linear motifs. In Tulip Damask, positive and negative tulips create a brocaded effect, inspired by antique textiles, while Icona showcases naive harlequin patterning influenced by geometric Moroccan carpets from the 1950s. "I'm drawn to patterns that are versatile, that might look more traditional in a modernist room or innovative next to period furnishings," O'Brien said. "What's modern to me isn't austerity, it's just a sharper focus on shape and line, scale and coloration, and a revealing of the character of the material itself." eLink 532

Mila Brown International, purveyor of art glass from around the world, debuted its first ceramic collection this past January. Ceramic Craftsmanship

Mila Brown International, purveyor of art glass from around the world, debuted its first ceramic collection this past January. Made in Vietnam, the chic, modern assortment complements the elegant art glass designs to a T. "The color is very in tune with today's market," said Brenda Brown, vice president of Mila Brown International. "The designs are very clean — not overdone — just good, workable home decor." Vibrant, trend-forward colors earmark the ceramic vases, balanced by more subtle, sophisticated neutrals that spark equal interest. Lustrous pearl lacquer finishes decorate sensual, gourd-based shapes, often accented by geometric eggshell insets. Rounding out the collection are high gloss lacquered vases, featuring a delicate filigree motif in tone-on-tone neutrals. Retail prices range from $33 to $155. eLink 533
