After failing to find a buyer, DJC Design Studio is shutting down its New Hampshire factory and auctioning its machinery this month.
Diane Jackson Cole, president, and Karen Carpenter, vice president, have announced their retirement from the industry this year.
The company closes with no debt. A core part of the company will continue to ship some major accounts with orders on the books through this fall.
Cole sought a buyer for the company, but was unable to find one. "Due to the many changes in our industry over the last few years, the right partnership was not found in time," she said.
DJC Design Studio was the winner of many industry awards, including honors from Heimtextil Trend, Pitti Casa Trend Invitational, Maison & Objet, the N.Y. Home Textiles Show and the Small Business Administration.
Cole, who launched three textiles company in 33 years, said she is looking forward to spending more time with her friends and family. Carpenter plans to relocate to Georgia with her husband.
