New York designer and author Carleton Varney and Ficks Reed, the 120-year-old manufacturer of luxury wicker and rattan furniture, jointly announced Varney's newest furniture collection, Carleton Varney for Ficks Reed.
"For many years I've wanted to create a collection of luxury, casually themed furniture combining pieces inspired by the work my colleague Dorothy Draper did during her remarkable career, which spanned more than four decades, as well as my own creations," said Varney, president and owner of Dorothy Draper & Co. and chairman of the Carleton Varney Group. "Now, in teaming up with Ficks Reed on a multi-year design partnership, I'm able to realize my vision."
Ficks Reed plans to introduce the entire Carleton Varney for Ficks Reed Collection in October at the International Home Furnishing Market in High Point, with product to be available to ship nationwide for Spring '07.
"Carleton has a certain magic touch he brings to everything he does," said Thomas Reenan, general manager of Ficks Reed. "We've already produced and successfully shipped the first pieces for the new collection, even while Carleton is completing work on still more designs."
