Habersham introduced a licensed lamp collection last month at the High Point market, Lamps by Lea. Designed and manufactured by Asheville, N.C.-based Lea Motlow, the domestically produced, high-end lamp collection complements the look and feel of Habersham designs and also ties into the Habersham Home lifestyle concept by now extending into lighting.
"We think Lea is a very special talent and what impressed us is the quality of the finishes, forms and shades," said Tom Skipper, vice president of sales. "We want to cover the grand European casual lifestyle even further, and we want to be able to offer lamps."
All 11 hand-finished lamp designs (including two floor lamps) are offered in a choice of 10 complex, multilayered finishes, including Antique Tortoise, Black & White Gesso, and Antique Tortoise over a red base highlighted with black accents. In keeping with Habersham's European casual approach, updated versions of classic urn and candlestick bases topnote the collection. Hand-sewn shades come in solid and patterned options, and are elegantly turned out with subtle, yet sophisticated details like braid trim and pleating.
Retail prices range from $500 to $700 for a floor lamp.
"It's been very exciting," Motlow said. "I look at these lamps as a work of art."
