Dallas expansion ahead of schedule

Staff -- Home Accents Today, 8/1/2006

Dallas Market Center officials have announced construction the 500,000-sq.-ft. expansion to the Trade Mart is ahead of schedule.

Some lighting tenants will gain access to their showrooms by Aug. 7, five weeks earlier than originally planned. Custom finish-out of the showrooms will then begin. The expansion, which doubles the lighting marketplace, is opening in January 2007.

The Trade Mart expansion gives Dallas Market Center more than 1 million square feet of space dedicated solely to the fixture and lighting industry.

Renovation of the exterior of the Trade Mart also is under way and will include new major architectural elements, signature window medallions, a new porte cochere, a covered walkway that connects the exterior of the Trade Mart with the World Trade Center and updated landscaping.

Dallas Market Center continues to experience significant growth by the leading lighting manufacturers. Many companies have made multi-year commitments to increase their showroom space in the Trade Mart expansion, the existing Trade Mart and the World Trade Center. The average showroom expansion is by more than 175% of the tenant's previous space.
