  • Calyx & Corolla unveiled an exclusive collection of floral gifts and accessories designed by Susie Coelho, author of Secrets of a Style Diva and host of HGTV's Outer Spaces and "Surprise Gardener." The Susie Coelho Signature Fall and Holiday Collections catalogs, mailed to 2.7 million customers, feature fresh floral arrangements in unusual vases and cache pots and home decor gift ideas.
  • EMI Group has formed a partnership with the Dean Martin trust to market the late singer and movie star's name, image and likeness, and to explore licensing opportunities with home furnishing, fashion and hospitality brands.
  • Saks Fifth Avenue reopened its New Orleans location in the Shops at Canal Place Nov. 16 following a $36 million renovation. The New Orleans store first opened in 1983.
  • The Bombay Company has replaced its existing credit facility with a new five-year, $125 million, secured credit facility with GE Commercial Finance to fund working capital and other needs.
  • Seattle-based Sur La Table plans to put $12 million in newly acquired funding towards a national expansion. CEO Kathy Tierney said the high-end kitchen gadget and tableware retailer plans to add between 10 and 15 stores annually over each of the next three years and renovate some of its 57 existing stores across the country.
  • Houston candle manufacturer Home Fragrance Holdings filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection Oct. 23 due to price pressure and rising competition from foreign imports. The 36-year-old company produced 12 to 15 million candles annually for retailers including Bed Bath & Beyond, Linens 'n Things, Kohl's, The Great Indoors and Pier 1 Imports.
  • Internet search engine Google Inc.'s Checkout service is offering merchants free processing of online payments until Dec. 31, to compete with eBay's PayPal service, which is offering $100 million in rebates and free shipping this holiday season
  • Like.com, a visual search engine that allows consumers to search for items by appearance, was launched by Riya, of San Mateo, Calif. Instead of entering text, users click on a photo and "Likeness Search" will retrieve other items found on the Web that display similar shape, color and texture characteristics. Like.com's initial release will focus on shopping categories, allowing users to search and purchase items from thousands of leading and boutique brands from retailers. Company CEO and co-founder Munjal Shah said "The first major new innovation to come to the world of image search in the last five years, Like.com truly allows consumers to window shop on the Web and see a great selection of products that match their tastes."
  • Ennis Furniture Company is opening a 12,000-sq.-ft. Thomasville Furniture Gallery in Spokane Valley, Wash., in January 2007. The location is a former Ethan Allen Home Interiors store.
