Resolving to improve
Becky Boswell Smith -- Home Accents Today, 1/1/2007
Like nearly everyone else when a new year rolls around, we're making a couple of changes here at Home Accents Today — improvements, we believe.
Now, we're not talking about New Year's resolutions — they hardly last until month-end. At least for me. We're talking about making our magazine more informative and helpful to you.
The first is the addition of Business Memo, a monthly guest column focused on three major issues our readers always keep at the forefront of their thinking.
Randy Eller, a business consultant and former president of CBK, begins the series talking about profitability and the importance of keeping your eye on the profit ball.
Next month, retailer Lynni Megginson will write about some of the merchandising challenges stores face and in the third month of the quarter, our Internet guru Suze Bragg will help readers get maximum benefit from the Web.
We're also making revisions in our Portfolios, which address trends in specific product categories. If you are a wall decor vendor, you should already have seen the change in our faxed solicitation. It's on your desk or someone else's in your office or available at homeaccentstoday.com. We're putting more emphasis on getting photos for every entry to help retailers quickly form an image of a company's products.
And finally as we meet each other at the January shows, I'll introduce you to Lori Lester, our newly hired product editor. She's busy learning names and procedures and I think you'll enjoy meeting her.
See you at the shows.
