Williamsburg signs with Sedgefield by Adams, SPI Home

Replaces Virginia Metalcrafters

-- Home Accents Today, 2/26/2007 7:09:00 AM

Williamsburg has announced licensing agreements with Sedgefield by Adams and SPI Home to replace product previously manufactured by Virginia Metalcrafters, which closed its doors last year.

Sedgefield by Adams and SPI–Home will produce classic and best-selling Williamsburg metalware and plan to expand the initial offering with new products in the next year. A rolling launch of existing items is set for the upcoming High Point Market, and new designs will broaden the line at Fall 2007 High Point and January 2008 Atlanta markets.

Sedgefield will develop an eclectic line of Williamsburg lamps and giftware, including the best-selling line of brass candlesticks, trivets and bookends. The pieces will retain their familiar forms, but Sedgefield will use its expertise in shading and wood turning to give many of the pieces new shades and wood bases.

SPI–Home will produce Williamsburg garden products in aluminum, iron and other metals from the former Virginia Metalcrafters line. Product will be phased in beginning in High Point this spring and at the Atlanta gift market in July.  The line will expand with additional introductions, including metal doormats, birdbaths and stands, armillaries, garden animals, stepping-stones, wind chimes, rain gauges, outdoor wall hangings, planters and urns, at the January 2008 Atlanta show.

“We look forward to working with the skilled designers and artisans of Sedgefield and SPI, who will make the most of the wealth of inspiration in our beautiful gardens and rich archives,” said Kris Fischer, a director of licensing for Williamsburg. “Through this exciting relationship, the supreme quality and authenticity of our original metal line will be maintained while details are refined and updated. Both are ideal companies to diversify and become stewards of the iconic Williamsburg line of brass, lamps, giftware and garden.”
