Selamat Designs names winner of chair design challenge

Selamat Designs President Thatcher Davis announced the Urban Tribal Chair, designed by Clay Rammage of Delano, Minn., won Selamat's inaugural "Create a Classic" Design Challenge.
Hundreds of designers — from students to design professionals — responded to the challenge and sent in their best ideas to create the "next great chair," with the winning entry becoming part of Selamat Designs' spring 2007 collection.
The top three designs were on display during the Las Vegas Market where buyers in attendance had the opportunity to vote for the chair they would most like to see added to the Cincinnati-based company's collection.
"The voting was extremely tight throughout the week, but in the end Clay's chair claimed victory and we couldn't be more pleased," Davis said. "Many of the buyers in attendance were already asking when they could place orders and we anticipate a great demand."
Orders for the Urban Tribal chair will be taken during the upcoming High Point Market.
With the success of the first Design Challenge, Selamat Designs will launch a second "Create a Classic" Design Challenge during the High Point Market with a new set of challenges for the designers. Entry information will be available during the show and on the company's Web site.
