Atrium Foliage, Castilian introduce Smithsonian licenses

The Smithsonian Institution debuts in two showrooms at this High Point Market with licenses inspired by the archives of the U.S. government’s largest museum.

Atrium Foliage is introducing the Smithsonian Collection by Atrium Foliage this market, a line of Smithsonian branded natural-looking permanent botanicals, and Castilian Trading Inc. brings a 19-SKU collection of wall art, garden seats, vases and boxes.

The Castilian offerings reflect “the influences of what the Smithsonian has and an effort to bring those designs forward, said Peter Grover, national sales manager of the Houston-based company. He added Castilian studied the archives to begin the collection, which will be expanded at the summer markets.

Atrium Foliage’s designs salute the Smithsonian’s award-winning orchid collection, as well as natural-looking arrangements with stems that could be culled from the institution’s gardens. “We met with members of the Smithsonian’s horticultural staff and curators, explored their greenhouses and gardens, and researched collected plant material and historic books,” said Kathy Lang Albright, vice president of marketing and designer services for the Norcross, Ga.-based company. “We drew upon their expertise and have included historical facts and botanical information as an integral part of our packaging.”

The Smithsonian Institution is the world’s largest museum complex and research organization composed of 17 museums and the National Zoo in Washington, D.C., and two museums in New York City.

Atrium Foliage is presenting its collection in Showplace 1406 and Castilian Trading shows in IHFC D324.

Groovystuff promoting ‘green’

Groovystuff is celebrating the growing eco-friendly awareness in the residential home furnishings industry by joining the Sustainable Furniture Council and hosting several green-themed market events.

As a member of the council, Groovystuff is showing specific environmentally friendly, reclaimed, original Groovystuff products in the Green Style Pavilion at the Suites at Market Square, 1-483.

To promote the launch this movement, Groovystuff is spreading the word by reminding people of Kermit the Frog’s famous saying, "It’s not easy being green,” by handing out Kermit the Frog Stay Green T-Shirts to all buyers who visit the Groovystuff booth.

The company’s showroom is located in Suites at Market Square, G-1148.
