George Little Management, 230 Fifth Avenue and 7 W New York have formed an alliance to produce and promote New York Home Textiles Market Week beginning this August. Going forward, the textiles market will be held concurrently with GLM's New York International Gift Fair and the showrooms' New York Gift Week.
The showroom buildings had originally been dominated by giftware suppliers and regularly opened to garner traffic during the weeks the semi-annual gift fair was open.
Both buildings have significantly built out their roster of mid- and high-end home textiles suppliers, with vendors of bedding, bath, linens, and related soft home products represented in their showrooms.
"Cooperation between a temporary show and permanent showrooms creates efficiencies that best serve market needs," said Penny Sikalis, GLM vice president. "Together, we will present an unparalleled breadth and depth of home textile resources, as well as a number of buyer amenities, such as a combined market directory, free inter-venue shuttle service and reduced-rate travel and hotel."
Other cooperation between organizers includes integrated marketing and development of networking and educational programs.
"Our introduction of the New York Home Textiles Market Week as an umbrella for the permanent showroom and temporary tradeshow activities enables us to directly address and minimize much of the confusion that now surrounds home textile market dates and locations," said Jane Gural-Senders, executive director of the New York Market Center at 230 Fifth Avenue.
"We continue to add textile resources to our lineup of tenants who are excited participants of the New York Home Textile Market Week," added Chris Collins, vice president and general manager of 7 W New York. "And, we also will be partnering with key home textiles resources, who are not currently participating in the New York market, who will be joining in time for the launch this August."
The New York Home Textiles Market Week runs Thursday, Aug. 9, through Thursday, Aug. 16, 2007. The NYIGF opens on Sunday, Aug. 12.
George Little Management earlier announced it has merged the Home Textiles Show into the At Home division of the gift fair.
"By repositioning New York Home Textiles Show exhibitors within At Home and reorganizing the division's existing high-end home textiles suppliers, we can expand the market's depth and breadth of luxury, high-end home fashions," said Dorothy Belshaw, GLM senior vice president and NYIGF director.
