According to The Rochester Democrat-Herald, Secon is survived by a son, two nephews and his brother, Morris, with whom he opened the first Pottery Barn store in the early 1950s in New York. The brothers began selling ceramics and home decor after Morris purchased three barns of Glidden Parker ceramics in upstate New York. According to The Democrat-Herald, after Williams-Sonoma acquired the company in the mid 1980s, Secon continued to work for the company as a consultant.
