Abbyson opens 'The Power of Home,' first retail venture

Staff -- Home Accents Today, 5/1/2007

Home furnishings manufacturer/distributor Abbyson Corporation, based in Chatsworth, Calif., announces its first retail venture, The Power of Home, an alliance with multinational shopping center developer The Westfield Corporation, to begin operations this month. A grand opening celebration will be held June 23 as The Power of Home takes its place alongside retailers Michael Kors, Coach, Burberry and Neiman Marcus, also newcomers to the newly renovated Westfield Topanga Canyon Mall.

In addition to select Abbyson rug and furniture items, The Power of Home will carry accessories from Imax and The Phillips Collection, and exclusives from Europe. A variety of mid- to upper-priced products will be offered in an environment staffed by a fully experienced design team and wired with touch-screen Design Center technology. Plans also include collaboration with professional interior designers for seminars and workshops to be held at the location.

Yavar Rafieha, vice president of marketing and sales for Abbyson, described the concept as the future of retail home stores. "We saw the opportunity and we decided to go for it. It is not new to see companies like ours venture into retail, but we really wanted to bring something different and special to the industry. The Power of Home is exactly that," Rafieha said.

Bamboo flooring and sixteen-foot custom shelving will showcase bedroom, living room and dining room furniture, accessories and floor coverings, with a planned expansion into kitchen and patio furniture. Wireless home automation technology, also available for purchase, will centralize the store's systems.

Alexandra DeCicco, marketing and sales manager, predicts the public will be surprised by the mix of styles available in the store. "The Power of Home is going to make a really exciting collection of products available," she said. All products will also be available for purchase on The Power of Home's e-commerce web site.
