High Point Market’s new Web design adds tools for manufacturers, retailers

The High Point Market Authority has unveiled a significant redesign of its Web site at http://www.highpointmarket.org designed to offer users more services and creative ideas for their businesses.

The site redesign is the first in about four years, said Brian D. Casey, president and chief executive officer of the High Point Market Authority. “The site was originally designed with an operational focus, and that functionality is still vitally important,” he said.  “However, our emphasis now is on providing the kind of content that gives retailers and manufacturers the tools necessary to grow their businesses.”

The site, redesigned by Greensboro, N.C.-based Emisare, Inc., features archived guest columns from leaders in the home furnishings industry and clips from the weekly “High Point Market Live” video cast. The Market’s weekly e-newsletters will also be archived on the Web site under the “Industry Insights” tab. Site visitors can register on the home page to receive weekly updates.

Site visitors can also plan market visits using newly enhanced tools to register, book travel and accommodations, find showrooms and events and map a daily itinerary.

Alibaba.com, Hannover Fairs Shanghai Ltd. partnership joins online, offline trade communities

Alibaba.com, an Internet business-to-business marketplace, and Hannover Fairs Shanghai Ltd, (HFS), the Chinese subsidiary of Deutsche Messe, an organizer of trade fairs and exhibitions, have signed a strategic partnership to promote CeBIT Asia to Alibaba.com’s buyers and sellers.

CeBIT Asia will be held October 10-13, 2007, at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre and is run by Hannover Fairs China Ltd. The annual event draws attendees from the ICT sectors and application industries and professional associations from China and abroad, including Germany, Australia, USA, Korea, and India. Last year, CeBIT Asia attracted 324 exhibitors and 38,238 visitors. This year, the show partners with PTC Asia and CeMAT Asia and is expected to draw more than 2,000 exhibitors and 70,000 visitors.

This partnership aims to unite the online and offline trade communities, providing global buyers and sellers with more opportunities to connect and trade.

The CeBIT Asia cooperation is the first phase in a partnership that could eventually include fairs in Europe, the United States and the rest of Asia.

Retailbuyers.com adds site for retailers to sell overstock merchandise

Canadian-based Retailbuyers.com has expanded its services to retailers who have overstock merchandise by creating a companion site called RetailerToRetailer. By joining RetailerToRetailer, retailers can purchase merchandise at or below wholesale cost directly from other retailers who may have experienced slow sales, have discontinued select merchandise, or simply have excess inventory in their warehouse.

Registration includes a monthly hosting fee of $4.95, allowing the seller the ability to list unlimited product information with photography.  Retailbuyers.com receives a small commission on orders shipped.   Registration is open to any retailer of home furnishings, gifts and decorative accessories, accents, rugs or other home decor products in North America.
