Other design-forward companies popularizing the pop-up concept include Target, eBay, Delta’s Song, Nike and Bluefly.com. Trendwatching.com reports, “If new products can come and go, why can’t the stores that display them do the same? … From gallery-like shopping spaces with one-off exhibitions to mobile units bringing inner city-chic to rural areas, we have noticed an increase in temporary retail manifestations around the world. … It’s about surprising consumers with temporary ‘performances,’ guaranteeing exclusivity because of the limited time span.”
Norsig said pop-up events give her an opportunity to meet customers personally. “The holidays are a particularly exciting time of year in New York City to own a storefront. It’s very fulfilling helping our customers find the perfect gift. In this setting, eTableTop can hand-select pieces and offer the public special prices,” she said.
The sale will feature a wide range of tabletop and gift items from a number of well-known brands including Rosenthal, Royal Copenhagen, Sieger, Jonathan Adler, Vellum, Reidel, James Rizzi, and Victor Vasarely.
The store will be open through Dec. 23. Hours are Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m.
