Candles and Home Fragrance: Juicy tropics

-- Home Accents Today, 1/1/2008

Sweetened with the sugary juices of nature's candy, home fragrance and candle offerings get downright delicious. Exotic fruits such as mango, pomegranate, guava and dragon fruit sashay into the limelight, creating treats that exude tropical appeal. Such cheerful fragrances would not be complete without vividly bright magenta, orange and lime packaging. Sensory overload is a possibility. — Lindsey Strader

1. Appealing and provocative, the Japanese Quince candle from Seda France combines piquant fragrances of rhubarb, passion fruit and white peach with hints of jasmine in a oversized four-wick candle, wrapped in a classic toile patterned box with bright blue ribbon.

2. The Narcissus & Pomegranate fragranced candle from Homart exudes a sweet tropical aroma.

3. Packaged in a coral colored cylinder with graphic design, the Mango Tree Kobo candle is hand-poured in glass and blends essences of mango, jasmine and musk. Kobo also offers the candle in Manchurian Dragon Fruit and includes a set of matches ($33 each).

4. From Bluewick, the Hinoki Kalamansi candle features a cypress wood base note with zesty additions of tangerine and kumquat and comes in a two-tone orange box with delicate floral motif ($40).

5. Pacifica's Bali Lime Papaya candle takes the sweet, musky floral aroma of sumptuous papaya and sparks it with notes of Indonesian kaffir lime for an exotically blended offering with equally spicy lime-colored packaging. This soy candle is also available in Hawaiian Ruby Guava, packaged in a bubblegum pink box with floral motif ($14 each).

6. Red and black currants are blended with the essence of pineapple and bosc pear to create the Pineapple Currant fragrance diffuser from Bluewick, packaged in a hand-blown bottle with hummingbird decoration ($60).

7. Showcased in a vibrantly colored magenta box, the Balade Creole room spray from Esteban disperses scents of guava and pineapple with hints of rum and vanilla. The scent is also offered in a frosted glass candle.
