Global Link Logistics Expands Flex Service

-- Home Accents Today, 1/1/2008

Global Link Logistics, a Golden Gate Logistics company and an Asia to U.S. freight forwarder specializing in furniture, flooring and sporting goods industries, has expanded Flex, its trans-Pacific express service to cover markets in the Midwest region. New markets include Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin.

Flex, an acronym for Furniture Less than container EXpress, was created to provide North American furniture retailers and importers with more cost-effective shipping options. Flex allows retailers and importers to consolidate orders as small as 300 cubic feet from multiple factories within the Asian manufacturing region and ship direct to North American retailers.

Small to mid-sized retailers and importers will especially benefit from Flex, which provides the cost benefits of a direct container shipment without the cash and inventory impact.  This process shortens the supply chain and helps to increase inventory turns and cash flow while reducing landed cost.

“We continue to expand Flex in order to offer more manufacturers a cost-effective variety of options for delivery of product to their customers,” said John Williford, president of Global Link Logistics. “We are extremely excited about the expansion of Flex into these key Midwest markets, and expect it will soon become a routine delivery option for many retailers, importers and manufacturers.”

Like all Global Link’s services, Flex increases product visibility and tracking at any given point in the shipping process. The company’s trademark Single Point Customer Service supports this and delivers additional features such as imaged proof-of-delivery documents and event status notifications in near-real-time for each checkpoint across the supply chain.
