Industry veteran and former president of Century Furniture Bob Maricich has been named the new president and CEO of the Las Vegas World Market Center.
“This is a point in my career where winning is important to me but making a difference in the industry is really, really important to me,” Maricich said.
“This is truly an unprecedented opportunity for me to contribute to the growth and evolution of the home furnishings industry on a global scale,” he said in a press release. “I am blown away by the vision, commitment and resources the owners have dedicated to ensure World Market Center exceeds the needs of the industry.”
In other news, Dave Palmer is retiring from his position as general manager, a post he has held for seven years.
Officials also revealed plans for Building D. Ron Wackrow of the Related Companies said ground will be broken this fall, with a completion date of fall 2010. The building will be 17 stories, built to merge contiguously to Building C.
Managing Partner Jack Kashani said World Market Center is targeting the gift and home textiles industries with the further expansions.
