Colors go eco-aware in '09

By Lindsey Strader -- Home Accents Today, 4/1/2008

Across the board, trend forecasters say that eco-awareness will be the single biggest influencer of 2009 color palettes, with the movement snowballing from a trend to a true lifestyle.

As people wish to ease the negative consequences on the environment through their daily lives, the hottest colors are reflections of the movement and can even serve to promote awareness.

The earth's surroundings such as the blue sky, pure air and serene water shape the colors in the first palette, Earthy Elements.

Next is an eclectic grouping that revolves around the idea of globalization and the widening knowledge that decisions made here can have resonating effects everywhere. In this palette, look for exotic colors, influenced by many distinct cultures, creating unusual combinations such as vibrant brights juxtaposed with pale pastels.

Recycling impacts the third palette with a focus on unbleached hues and natural materials. Rounding out the forecast is a glowing concoction of warm tones, reflecting the sun's inherent source of energy.
