Past Equals Present
Chelsea House introduces a collection from designer Thomas Jayne, who has worked with the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Christie’s and Winterthur. “We could not be more excited to work with Thomas,” said Bill Cain, president of Chelsea House. “Our philosophy of taking classic design and making it fresh for today’s market is precisely Thomas’ area of expertise.” The initial launch at High Point this month includes lamps, mirrors, needlepoint pillows and tole pieces.

Around the World in Color
The Way We Live with Color by Stafford Cliff traverses far and wide in this visual feast for the senses. The photography of Gilles de Chabaneix captures interiors and architecture that are both diverse and full of local color. Divided into five color groupings, instant inspiration is at hand for those in need of a little color therapy. Retail price is $39.95.

Tres Chic Textiles
Vossberg, a family-owned company in Hamburg, Germany, has made its U.S. debut through House + Wear. Beginning in the ’80s, Vossberg sought out interesting textiles like hand-painted silk kimonos and hand-embroidered throws from Mongolia. Today, Vossberg still travels the globe in search of traditional textiles and updates them for modern consumption; 2008’s theme is Suzani. Average prices range from $60 to $100.
Candle Art
Perfume in Porcelain, a new candle and diffuser collection from Joya, blends edgy containers and mysterious fragrances (like Gunpowder Green Tea) with unusually luminous results. Ceramic designer Sarah Cihat imparted an abstract, sculptural quality to the black and white porcelain votives, each made one-of-a-kind by hand-applied and fired offbeat motifs, such as a skull or Victorian key set. Retail prices range from $48 to $76.

Metal Urges
Maya Romanoff’s new True Metals Collection translates recycled brass, copper and aluminum for the interior. Genuine copper and brass are hand-worked in an ancient artisan’s technique to achieve a weathered patina of varying hues; the aluminum is lightly brushed for a contemporary effect. Shown in 12-inch square tiles, custom patterns and sizes are also available.

Italian Luminaries
Vietri’s new lamp collection boasts exquisitely crafted ceramic bases with custom-colored coordinating finials in traditional Italian hues like ochre, red, cappuccino, pistachio and black. Statuesque and classically inspired, the elegant, simple designs are offered in four collections: Tuscan, Modern, Heirloom and Rustic. Prices range from $416 to $799.
