Umbra has announced the appointment of designer Matt Carr as director of design, a newly created position charged with the responsibility of overseeing a global design department headquartered in Toronto.

Carr has been with Umbra for the past seven years, becoming one of the company's creative Leads in 2006. He will manage a staff of 20 designers to create more than 200 products each year.

“Matt has had a strong impact on the design direction at Umbra and has helped make us a global design brand,” said Paul Rowan, vice president of design and co-founder of Umbra.
