OneCoast consultant and ARTS-award winning rep Russ Jones received Décor & You’s first “Most Valuable Partner of the Year” award for his dedication and service on behalf of OneCoast.
Décor & You is a ten-year-old interior decorator franchise business covering thirty states. Jones was presented with the award on August 22nd while conducting a training session for new designers at the company’s main office in Connecticut.
A month prior to that, when Décor & You moved its annual c
onference to the Las Vegas summer market, Jones organized a day-long tour of World Market Center showrooms for the more than 100 Décor & You decorators and designers in attendance (photo, right). The tour began with breakfast and a training session in the Feizy Rugs showroom and ended at Global Views for happy hour. In between, there were stops at Lampworks/Annie James, Moe’s Home Collection, lunch at Napa Home & Garden and a tour of OneCoast’s new showroom.
Although most of the showrooms were Décor & You vendors, Annie James, Moe’s Home Collection and selected companies in the OneCoast showroom were introduced as new vendor partners for the designers.
Jones enjoyed the experience and said the business the trip has generated thus far is “amazing.” Connecting face-to-face with the designers also strengthened his relationship with the group. “Before my arrival in Vegas I studied the Décor & You website with the designers’ pictures so I would be able to greet each one by name,” Jones said. “I was pleased that I was able to make that personal connection and they were impressed that I took the time to learn who each person was.”
As for the designers’ response, Global Views drew the biggest reaction. “But all the vendors were welcoming and it was a great opportunity for the designers to see, feel and touch, and to gain a better understanding of each line and the quality of the product,” Jones said.
A lot of the designers were first time visitors to the Las Vegas market but Jones was especially surprised at how many were attending their first-ever market. “I already have these designers wanting to meet me at future shows around the country… there are a few groups coming to meet me in High Point in October,” he said.
Décor & You is planning to repeat its annual conference and tour in Las Vegas next summer. Asked if he’d do anything different next time, Jones said he’d request more than one day for the tour. “There wasn’t enough time for us to cover everything as much as I would have liked, but the good thing is it left them wanting more.”
