In spite of the depression of the economy, there's no lack of new looks at market to love. And while the trend is toward safer and more established styles, there's plenty of creativity on display. It all feels very familiar, yet equally fresh — a tweak here and there to provide relevance and modernity — and hits the high points of both classic and contemporary design.
Our Fall sketchbooks indulge in a little armchair wanderlust (an economical binge), linked by the theme of destinational design.
First stop, front and center, is classical American design at its best. DC blends casual and formal looks, capturing the patriotic spirit of the capital with traditional, resilient grace.
Our next stateside stops could not be more different, saluting the urban, Art Deco-driven hipness of South Beach and the rustic-meets-Hollywood glamour of Park City.
A layover in Belgium pays this design mecca its due, spiked with a saucy dose of Old World charm. Halfway around the world, our travels end on the lush island of Bali — exploring the strong link between nature and lifestyle.
