Bruce Bradburn, CEO of Bradburn Company, was elected 2009 chairman of the American Home Furnishings Alliance during the organization's annual meeting last month.

The AHFA Board of Directors also elected John Bray, CEO of Vanguard Furniture, first vice chairman, and Bob Duncan of American Leather, second vice chairman.

Kurt Darrow, president of La-Z-Boy, moves to immediate past-chairman of the board. The officers will assume their new posts on Jan. 1.

The AHFA also is adding seven new members to its board: Wyatt Bassett, Vaughan-Bassett; Alan Cole, Hooker Furniture; Ty Lorts, Lorts Manufacturing; Richard Magnussen, Magnussen Home Furnishings; Bill Markowitz, The Veneman Group; Kevin Sauder, Sauder Woodworking; and Alex Shuford, Century Furniture. They will serve three-year terms starting Jan. 1.

Also during the meeting, Bassett Furniture President and CEO Rob Spilman received the group's Distinguished Service Award.— Furniture/Today
