Area rug, gift show run concurrently

The Atlanta gift and home market kicks off Tuesday at AmericasMart. With the grand opening of Building 2 West Wing this week, the complex now measures 7.7 million square feet. Other events this month: the area rug market will run concurrently with the gift show, while Kool & The Gang will perform Sunday evening to “Celebrate” the new building.Following is some other news from around the Atlanta market.
* Kirch & Co. has moved to the Gift Building, suite 1015B. The new 1,000-sq.-ft. showroom more than triples its old 300-sq.-ft. space in The Gardens. The move was made in order to accommodate its expanding line of Hen-Feathers products, a new line of contemporary accessories called George Nelson by Verichron as well as a more transitional line called New Haven Clock & Watch.
A ribbon cutting will be held on Friday, Jan. 9, at 9:40 a.m. and the company will continue the celebration with wine and cheese throughout the show. A flat screen TV will be given away at the end of the market and all buyers placing orders at the show will be eligible for the prize.
* The Gift Sales Management Association is sponsoring a buyers lounge in Building 2, Room 707, with samples of member companies’ products, a rest area and bottled water.
* Bella Rose by Chateau is launching a new upholstered headboard line as well as a fabric and trim line at the Atlanta market this week. The custom upholstered headboard line uses the company’s selection of fabrics and trims. The headboards are available in two different designs: The French seam style is a clean-lined design with top stitching, while the tufted style is more traditional. Headboards are available in queen, king and California king.
The fabric and trim line offers nearly 100 choices of fabrics that coordinate with Bella Rose collections. All fabrics are sold by the yard and can be used for draperies, slip covers and upholstery. The line also includes trims that range from simple wooden buttons to opulent fringe. The trims are available for purchase as individual pieces, as in the case of tassels, or by the yard for cording and fringe.
* Global Product Resources, manufacturer of decorative floor and tabletop fans known as Deco Breeze, announces its new partnership with sales representative organization Darrah & Co. The company will be represented by Darrah & Co. during this week’s Atlanta market in Building 2, Suite 1818.
* New Creative Enterprises has assembled a new sales force comprised of 12 regional sales agencies.
Some of the agencies helped NCE get its start and represented the company until 2003. NCE then employed a company sales force until the end of 2006 and after that was represented by the OneCoast national division in the independent market until the end of 2008.
New Creative will now be represented by Dold, Don-Mar, Fred Miller, Fox Premier Sales, Next Generation Texas, Alger, Meyer, BPA Sales Parranto, Pray Kansas, The Newcombs, Stack & Co. and Earthworkers Rockies.
The company has also added a niche sales agency, Genesis Marketing Group, to provide nationwide support to Christian-focused markets.
NCE filed for bankruptcy protection in December, but according to a press release about the move, it plans to leverage this new sales force to return to solvency.
