W.A.C. Lighting says it has achieved zero landfill status. According to the company, nothing from its manufacturing efforts goes into a landfill. All excess steel, plastic, wood, paper and glass are reused or recycled.
The plant even recycles water and wastewater for landscaping and other needs.
The company says it employs stringent sourcing requirements and has eliminated lead from all of its powder coats, finishes and other manufacturing materials.
Because of its commitment to leave as small a carbon footprint as possible, sustainable CFL (compact fluorescent lamp) and LED (light-emitting-diode) products have been added to W.A.C. 's line. Both types of lighting offer a long lamplife and do not emit carbon into the atmosphere.
The company says that it changed its logo and tagline in September to “Responsible Lighting” to reflect its energy saving strategies, social awareness and community involvement.
“We are dedicated to preserving our planet,” said Shelley Wang, vice president and general manager. “That's what helps make W.A.C. Lighting, Responsible Lighting.”
