Surya was recently awarded a Niryat Shree Gold Trophy for its excellence in exporting by the government of India and the Federation of Indian Export Organizations (FIEO).
Satya Tiwari, Surya president, accepted the award from the President of India in a ceremony held last month in Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. Also present to accept the award was Satya’s father, Surya, who founded the company in 1976.
The FIEO helps promote global trade by acting as a liaison between its members and the government of India. FIEO members account for more than 70% of the country’s international exports.
Beginning 30 years ago in Ugapur, India, Surya’s first collection of rugs consisted of simple hand-knotted rugs of one or two colors. Today Surya offers thousands of area rugs in over twenty different fiber constructions and a collection of corresponding home accessories, but it retains its roots as an India-based vertically integrated manufacturing company.
“There truly is no limit to the success that Surya can achieve,” said Satya Tiwari. “Our customers are loyal and are increasing in numbers each day, and Surya’s excellent service and incomparable selection keeps them coming back. We are thankful for their continued patronage and for the government of India for their support in assisting us in providing our customers with quality products all over the world.”
