Early risers responded positively to home décor manufacturer Sterling Industries’ offer of a 25% discount to buyers who shopped the company's AmericasMart showroom before 11 a.m. each morning at the winter market in Atlanta.“We were amazed by the turnout and also with the number of new customers,” said Sterling Industries CEO and founder John Scott.
Sterling recorded a 60% increase in sales over the same two-hour period from last January’s market. “There’s never been a better time than now to buy,” says Scott. “People are expecting deals. Our strategy is to make sure customers come to us first to find those deals.”
The company communicated its two-hour sale to customers through direct mail, e-mail blasts, a calling campaign and street marketers at the show. The company also offered free product deals and free freight to customers who shopped after 11 a.m. and created extra incentive to visit by introducing 200 new accessories, lighting, furniture and mirrors.
Due to the success of the promotion, Sterling Industries is offering the same discount at upcoming markets -- buyers can take 25% off all regularly priced items for the first two hours each market day in Dallas, Los Angeles and Las Vegas.
