Accent on Design awards recognize design excellence
Five winners announced at NYIGF

Five companies were recognized for creativity and ingenuity in product design this week at the juried Accent on Design division of the New York International Gift Fair. Accent on Design runs through Thursday, Jan. 29, at New York City’s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. Accent on Design awards were presented to:
Best New Product Design: Ameico, New Milford, Conn., for its Wall-Mounted Changing Table, designed by Bo Design of Sweden, a contemporary, good looking and space-saving design.
Best New Product Design: DFC Mexico City/Comercializadora DFCasa SA de CV, Mexico City, for its Grasshopper Table, an imaginative, whimsical and optimistic twist on an everyday object.
Best Collection: Kiln Design Studio, Brooklyn, N.Y., for its collection of jewelry, tabletop and sculptural objects.
Best Booth Presentation: Alessi USA, Inc., New York, N.Y., a showcase for its collection of timeless design.
Overall Excellence: Areaware, New York, N.Y., overall excellence for bringing young, unknown and established cutting-edge designers to the market.
Judging criteria included innovation, function, originality and design. The selection committee included Ilene Shaw, Shaw + Co! Productions; Miguel Calvo, Design& Research; Judy Dunne, Butter and Eggs; David Reid and James Klein, KleinReid; and Jon Weatherman, Museum Consultant.
