Blood, Sweat & Tears, The Spinners to headline at High Point Market
Special anniversary insignia will commemorate Centennial Celebration

Blood Sweat & Tears will kick off the High Point Market’s Centennial Celebration festivities Saturday, April 25th under the main event tent adjacent to the Commerce Ave. transportation terminal. The band first appeared on the American music scene in the late sixties, racking up sales with multiple gold albums and hits like “Spinning Wheel,” and “You Make So Very Happy.”
On Sunday evening, seventies R&B group The Spinners will take the stage armed with their play list of hits including “Rubberband Man,” “One of a Kind (Love Affair),” “Could It Be I’m Falling in Love,” “Working My Way Back to You/Forgive Me, Girl,” “Then Came You,” “Games People Play,” and “I’ll Be Around.” The Spinners have earned a dozen gold records and six Grammy nominations and still maintain a full touring schedule.
Musical group 1964 brings the Beatles to life for market-goers Monday evening, April 27, with a tribute to fab foursome John, Paul, George and Ringo.

hlights of the guest experience here at market,” said Brian Casey, president and CEO of the High Point Market Authority. “Along with these crowd-pleasing entertainers, visitors will find a number of not-to-be-missed special events and surprises at spring market as part of the Centennial Celebration plans. The market authority is also introducing a special 100th anniversary insignia that will appear in a variety of marketing materials, as well as on signage throughout the downtown area. The Centennial Celebration insignia features the market’s multi-branched tree logo astride a banner emblazoned with the years 1909-2009, supported by the words “100 Years New.”
Casey said the insignia honors the High Point Market’s early history and the case goods makers who essentially planted the seed for the semiannual event 100 years ago this spring, while speaking to the market’s relevance in the future and its forward-looking position.
