Steve Mazarakis to head new rug division

Linon Home Décor Products is expanding its business to include a full line of quality and affordable area rugs. The new division will be headed by Steve Mazarakis, former CEO of Hellenic Rug Imports.
Next week in Las Vegas, Linon Area Rugs will feature its full line of stocking rug programs along with its new licensed collection, Southern Living Home, in WMC showroom C-1232.
Linon’s Southern Living Home collection includes Westover, traditional rugs hand-tufted in 100-line construction of 100% wool with a hard twist and abrash to achieve an Old World feel; Birmingham, traditional designs hand-tufted in a thick hard twist using New Zealand wool, washed to give an antique luster; Rosedown, traditional designs in a hand-tufted construction of highly washed new wool for softness; Ashton, a group of transitional designs that feature subtle color pallets in open free-flowing designs complimented by the use of hard twist and hand-tufted techniques; Low Country, a group of indoor/outdoor rugs hand-hooked and made of 100% polypropylene pile and backing.
Many of the rugs will be featured in the 2009 Southern Living idea houses north of Atlanta and on the coast of Texas. The houses open for tours to the public in June and will be featured in the August issue of Southern Living and on the Web site.
Linon’s stocking programs include its Flokati Rug Collection, traditional, transitional and contemporary hand-tufted wool rugs, the Shag Leather Collection and the full service Wool Sisal program.
The manufacturer recently secured exclusive distribution with the largest flokati manufacturer in Greece. Using a proprietary process that allows brilliance in color and color fastness, Linon will stock in multiple colors and size in 2 qualities - New Flokati and 3A Heavy. Linon will also offer in an exclusive quality 5A extraordinary Heavy in solid natural white. Fashion colors will be available on a direct container program.
Jim Ziozis, president of Linon said, “We feel this is an exciting category for Linon to reenter. My father John Ziozis, the founder of Linon, started in the Flokati business 40 years ago, so this is really getting us back into the rug business. We feel that Linon reentering the rug business will offer buyers an outstanding home décor selection of furniture, wall décor and rugs.”
