Guildmaster CEO launches 3-month retail tour

Steve Crowder’s social media campaign can be followed online

-- Home Accents Today, 2/17/2009 10:10:00 AM

Steve Crowder, CEO of home furnishings manufacturer Guildmaster, will be traveling more than 15,000 miles in the next three months to meet face-to-face with retailers and interior designers. According to a company press release, Guildmaster on Tour is intended to unearth customer success stories, find out what people want, what they are buying and how Guildmaster can become better at meeting their needs. The three-month tour will take Crowder to 41 states and 200 retail outlets.

Crowder began his journey yesterday morning, Feb. 16, to learn about what consumers want, what they are buying and how Guildmaster can become better at meeting their customer’s needs.

“This journey is intended to unearth some great customer stories across America,” Crowder said. “We are going to gather some valuable information and then we will take the information learned on the road and we will execute. We’re going to share best practices about what is working and we will focus on the positives of what we need to do.”

Crowder is using social media to pass along the insights that he learns along the way through Facebook, Linked In and Twitter. Guildmaster is inviting others to log on, tell Crowder what they want him to ask retailers and interior designers, and learn more about color trends, display tips, challenges, mistakes at retail, successful marketing event ideas and anything else that Crowder learns along the way.

Crowder’s first stop is in Conway, Ark. From there he’ll head to Shreveport, La., Marshall, Tex., Houston and San Antonio.

“We believe this will be a Guildmaster changing event,” Crowder said. “It’s not that consumers aren’t buying any furnishings, it is that they are buying a lot less of it. Small businesses drive the U.S. economic engine and we are going to take a leading role in the home accents industry to create furnishings that consumers want and become a better partner to our retail dealers and interior designer customers.”
