Industry charitable organization Gift for Life has named a new leadership team; Jenny Hammons has been named chairman, and Leslie Nathan-Street has been named vice-chairman.
Hammons is a 36-year gift industry veteran and owner of Jenny Hammons/Company, which consists of West Coast-based sales organizations servicing the gift and home decor markets in Northern California and the U.S. Pacific Northwest
Nathan-Street is president of the Gift & Home Channel. Prior to joining the Gift & Home Channel, Nathan-Street was senior vice president and show director with George Little Management.
Hammons and Nathan-Street will lead the 24-person board responsible for managing all aspects of Gift for Life. Volunteer representatives from manufacturing, sales, media, marketing, retail, and market center/tradeshow management make up the board.
“I am honored to serve as chair of the industry’s chosen cause,” Hammons said. “Working closely with Leslie, the board and DIFFA, I look forward to advancing the mission of Gift For Life through continued support and development of our current initiatives as well as new and creative fund-raising and promotional channels.”
Each year, Gift for Life hosts regional events throughout the U.S. and a national fundraiser in New York City during the New York International Gift Fair. Funds benefit DIFFA: Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS.
The primary mission of Gift for Life and DIFFA is to eradicate the AIDS pandemic in the U.S. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention reports an increased incidence of HIV infections in the United States in 2008. Working together, Gift for Life and DIFFA will continue to raise funds for service and education programs.
The annual Stakes Are High Casino Night Party, benefitting DIFFA, will be held on Sunday, Jan. 31, 2010, in New York City. For additional information and to purchase tickets, visit www.diffa.org/giftforlife.
