ARTS Awards accepting nominations online

Dallas Market Center and the Accessories Resource Team are accepting nominations online for the 21st annual ARTS Awards, the prestigious awards program that honors outstanding achievement in the decorative accessories industry. In an effort to be eco-friendly, DMC and ART are accepting nominations at www.accessoriesresourceteam.org in place of paper ballots.

The ARTS Awards, presented each January during the Dallas Total Home & Gift Market, recognizes top retailers, manufacturers, sales representatives and designers from every region of the United States. The 21st annual ARTS winners will be revealed during the gala event to be held on Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010, in The Grand Pavilion at the Trade Mart.

Anyone in the home furnishings industry can nominate. Neither membership in ART nor representation at DMC is necessary. The nomination deadline is July 3, 2009. Submit your vote online now at www.accessoriesresourceteam.org.

The awards categories are:

Manufacturer Awards:
Accent Furniture, Area Rugs, Decorative Accessories, Home Textiles, Lighting Fixtures, Outdoor Living, Permanent Floral, Portable Lamps, Tabletop and Wall Décor

Retailer Awards:
International Retailer, Regional Furniture Store, Regional Lighting Showroom and Regional Home Accent Store

Individual Awards:
Product Designer of the Year, Sales Representative of the Year, Rising Star and Academy of Achievement

After the nomination deadline at the beginning of July, finalists are announced in August. Next, they must submit a detailed portfolio about their company, business philosophies and products. In November, industry expert judges meet at Dallas Market Center for two days to separately review products and binders submitted by each company or individual. The judges’ ballots are sealed and sent to a designated accounting firm for tabulation.

The 21st annual ARTS Awards are sponsored by Home Accents Today, Gifts & Decorative Accessories Gift & Home Channel, Overcoffee and other trade magazines.
