Rye, N.H. – Summer House Furnishings has moved to an expanded location at 25 Sagamore Road at Foye’s Corner. The store, now in its 10th year of operation, showcases Maine Cottage Furniture, lighting, bedding antiques and original art work. Owners are Stephanie Saltonstall and Andrea Checovich.Santa Cruz, Calif. – Stripe, owned by Suna Lock, opened at 107 Walnut Ave. The store carries home furnishings, organic textiles, jewelry, gifts and collectibles, along with the work of emerging artists and designers. Tampa, Fla. – Ikea is opening a store in Tampa on Wed., May 6. The 353,000-sq.-ft. store will be the company’s third store in Florida. San Angelo, Texas – Frametech Home Accents expanded and relocated from 1915 Austin St. to 1909 Knickerbocker Road. The shop offers picture framing, gifts, stationery and home accessories.Ashland, Ky. – Belk opened a home store in an expanded and renovated location at Ashland Town Center in Ashland, Ky. The expanded home department features Emeril Lagasse Emerilware and Belk’s exclusive Lorena Garcia brand. Other featured Belk home brands include Biltmore For Your Home, Mary Jane’s Farm and Home Accents.Houston – Gallery Furniture has opened a satellite store to showcase its upscale category at Post Oak and Westheimer, a former Pier 1 Imports location. The new store features 15,000 square feet of selling space. A 7,500-sq.-ft. expansion is planned for later this year.

Miami – Stranos Home Collection recently opened a location in the Miami Design District at 3610 N.E.1st Ave., the French retailer’s first U.S. location. The Stranos brand is well known in St. Tropez as a collection of high-end linen, bedding and towels for the home and yachts. The current collection features seven unique lines of bed linens and accessories, bath towels and accessories, terry robes, and infant bedding, blankets and towels.

Houston – Ligne Roset opened a new 6,000-sq.-ft. showroom at Rice Village.

Kohl’s Corp. opened 19 stores this spring in Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Kansas, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Texas, Utah and Alaska.

Austin, Texas – Lindsay Burns opened Threshold Interiors, a design and home furnishings boutique, at the corner of Fifth and West streets. Attached to the 3,500-sq.-ft. shop is an 800-sq.-ft. patio area with outdoor furnishings. The shop is part of the ground-level retail space under the Monarch building’s garage.

Scottsdale, Ariz. – Williams-Sonoma and West Elm opened stores in Scottsdale Quarter, an emerging shopping district southeast of Scottsdale Road and Greenway-Hayden Loop.

Coconut Creek, Fla. – El Dorado Furniture opened a 92,000-sq.-ft. furniture and accessories store as the anchor tenant of a new shopping center.

Diane James Designs has launched DianeJamesHome.com, a direct-to-consumer Web site offering more than 50 designs in faux bouquets, orchids and plants and unique decorative accessories. The site also features a seasonal newsletter on fashion and home decor trends.

Columbus, Ohio – Big Lots announced plans to open a 35,000-sq.-ft. store in a former Linens 'N Things space on Polaris Parkway in May. A report in Columbus Business First described the move as the beginning of the closeout chain’s planned expansion into shuttered locations in prime retail areas. According to the article, the new store is one of five that will test a new look and layout. Big Lots was No. 15 on Home Accents Today’s Top 50 Home Accent Retailers (by sales volume) list for 2008.

Louisville, Ky. – Sustain, an eco-friendly store at 3724 Frankfort Ave., held its grand opening celebration in March. The store, formerly known as Sustain Kids, has expanded to include kitchen wares, home decor, organic bedding, books, natural cosmetics, green electronics, solar-powered products and furniture.

Santa Fe, N.M. – Robin Gray Design opened a new Carpet and Rug Studio. During the opening week, the studio hosted Rugmark’s Faces of Freedom, a touring exhibit by photographer U. Roberto Romano.
