| The new wall decor collection from Portfolio Art Factory includes 28 giclees with Latin American, Spanish and Moorish influences. |
The line includes 28 giclees, printed on canvas, created by the Portfolio Art Factory, a Miami-based art producer. The line is inspired by her love of art, with textures of her Latin American and Spanish heritage interwoven.
"I told (Porfolio Art Factory) that I wanted something Spanish, something that looks like my house," Saralegui told Home Accents Today. "I have always wanted to bring the art and color that I love into the homes of our customers, but waited until we could find a partner who would do the kind of quality production that I would feel proud to have in my own home."
The Casa Cristina collection of home furnishings debuted five years ago and features 16 product categories including furniture, lighting and home accessories, as well as bedding and bath products. The collection is inspired by the style and decor of her Miami home, along with memories of her childhood. Licensees include Midwest-CBK and Pulaski Furniture.
Saralegui said the new art line was designed to coordinate with the existing licensed collections, and that actually some of the pottery depicted in the designs are from her line with Midwest-CBK.
"The CBK line fits right in," she said. "It's got the same flavor and the same feeling."
She said she used influences from the colonial cities in the 23 Latin American countries to create the line. Motifs include angels, bullfighters and "bodegon," a Spanish word for still-lifes of "anything to do with drink, food, flowers and fruit." There are also several antique poster reproductions.
"Cristina's exquisite taste and clear direction made it a joy to create her personal Casa Cristina Art collection," said Ancel Lopez, president of the Portfolio Art Factory. "Her name and reputation as one of the most recognized and respected television journalists made it an ideal creative and business partnership."
Saralegui is a 12-time Emmy award-winner and is marking the 20th anniversary of her TV program The Cristina Show this year. In 2005, she was named one of the "25 Most Influential Hispanics in America" by Time Magazine.
