NYIGF to host opening day reception in new At Home division

The New York International Gift Fair is hosting an opening day reception in Pier 94's new At Home division, a consolidation of hard lines for the home, on Sat., Aug. 15, 5-6 pm. All market participants are invited to enjoy cocktails, compliments of NYIGF, while browsing At Home's comprehensive "under one roof" collection showcasing over 220 furniture, floor coverings, wall art, lighting and decorative accessories suppliers.
"We're delighted to welcome home furnishings retailers and suppliers to NYIGF," said Dorothy Belshaw, NYIGF director and GLM senior vice president. "The home furnishings category has always been a pivotal feature of the NYIGF, showcasing leading design talent across a broad spectrum of home products and attracting key retailers and designers. This reception is just one way of saying 'thank you' to our customers."
Presented as one of eight NYIGF divisions, At Home offers buyers the benefit of shopping a depth of home furnishings and accessories resources, along with a breadth of complementary gift and lifestyle merchandise presented by NYIGF's 2,900 exhibiting companies. Show hours are 9 am-6 pm daily, except Wed., Aug. 19, when At Home closes at 3 pm. The complete NYIGF social and networking calender for the summer 2009 market follows:
Sat., Aug. 15, 3:30-5:30 pm - NY Market: On the Town at the Museum of Modern Art, 11 West 53 St.; NYIGF participants are invited to celebrate Accent on Design's 25th Anniversary at The Museum of Modern Art, where admission any time during Market Week is free upon presenting a summer 2009 New York Market badge, compliments of NYIGF.
Sat., Aug. 15, 5-6 pm - At Home Welcome Reception, Passenger Ship Terminal Pier 94; This opening day welcome reception, hosted by NYIGF, is open to all Market participants. Complimentary cocktails will be served while buyers browse At Home's comprehensive collection of hard lines for the home.
Sun., Aug. 16, 6-10 pm - 58th Annual Retailer Excellence Awards, Marriott Marquis; Home Accents Today sister publication Gifts & Decorative Accessories hosts this celebration to recognize excellence in retailing and individual achievement. The 2009 finalists will be recognized, retail category winners will be announced and special recognition awards will be presented. Introduced in 1951, the Retailer Excellence Awards are among the most prestigious in the industry. Categories include: Gift Store Design/Redesign, Marketing Achievement, Visual Merchandising/Display, Retail Internet Innovator/Innovation, 2009 Outstanding Manufacturer's Representative, and 2009 Rising Star. As part of this event, Gift For Life's 2009 Industry Achievement Award will be presented to Bobbie Gottlieb of Two's Company. Two lucky retailers will be selected at random to win two free tickets each to the Mon., Aug. 17 New York Mets vs. San Francisco Giants game.
