Ann Aston Pickering, the longtime property manager at the 200 Steele showroom in High Point, has died after a short illness. She was 68.
Pickering joined 200 Steele early in the building's conception phase and was there when it opened in April 2002. She previously worked at Market Square, also in High Point.
Pickering was the first female president of the High Point Chamber of Commerce, and she was active in many organizations dedicated to preserving animals and their habitats, including the Bald Head Island Conservancy and the Smith Island Land Trust.
She is survived by a son, brother, sister-in-law and several nephews and nieces.
Services will be held at 4 p.m. on July 1 at the Bald Head Island Chapel with a reception to follow at the Bald Head Assn. building. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Bald Head Island Conservancy or the Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Hospital.
