Moe's Home Collection has relocated its wholesale division from Fremont, Calif., to Sumner, Wash., to be closer to its headquarters in Vancouver, British Columbia.
The company produces case goods, upholstery and accessories and also has a retail division with five stores in British Columbia, Washington and California.
Moe's completed the warehouse move about a week ago, according to Sara Samieian, vice president of the wholesale division. The shift was part of a restructuring plan initiated in mid-2008, which also included the relocation of Moe's Manufacturing and Consolidation Center in China from Ningbo to a better quality supplier in Dongguan, Samieian said.
Moe's also says it plans to announce a comprehensive freight cap package at the Las Vegas Market in September.
In addition, it will introduce 150 new SKUs in Vegas as it moves in styling to transitional and contemporary looks, said Karen Stewart, a product development and design specialist with the company. She added that Moe's also aims to use more sustainable materials.
"Moe's has always introduced product based on market needs and demand," said Moe Samieian Sr. "Since last year, I have seen rustic, bold shapes and dark brown colors coming to an end and the customer's taste moving toward more slick and elegant looks incorporating some refreshing color.
"I also have noticed that there is a huge gap in between traditional and contemporary," he said. "Moe's is trying to fill that gap by introducing products that fit the best for today's mood and demand."
Moe's Home Collection is moving its product line into more contemporary styles — a move that Moe Samieian said is determined by trends he has spotted in the marketplace.
