Soicher Marin has launched a new collection this market – SM2 – a line of lower-priced, trend forward wall decor designed to target a younger demographic.
The company unveiled the line along with its new showroom C&D 2I. The debut launch includes 370 SKUs, Ed Marin, president, told Home Accents Today.
“I wanted a product line that had the same sensibility of the regular Soicher Marin line, but was completely different – it doesn’t look anything like it,” he said, adding that he also charged his design staff that the product had to be produced in the United States and be about half the price in order to reach a new audience of shoppers.
“We wanted to offer original content to this consumer,” he said. “It looks like them, it’s young like them and they can afford it. … And it has a bit of an attitude.”
The art, produced in Sarasota, Fla., wholesales between $40 and $150.
In other news, Soicher Marin announced that the company has signed a deal with TV celebrity designer Thom Filicia to do a licensed art collection. The line, which will debut at the April 2010 High Point Market, will include about 75 SKUs.
