The L.A. Mart has joined forces with its showrooms and the Los Angeles Regional Foodbank to proudly sponsor the “Sharing It” Day event and food drive Tuesday, Nov. 10.
“The tough economic conditions and increasing coast of living has required many families to rely hunger relief sites for the first time,” said Mark Furlet, vice president and general manger, L.A. Mart. ”The L.A. Mart is proud to combine forces with the Los Angeles Regional Foodbank to give back to our community though the Sharing It Day Food Drive.”
All food and funds collected for the event will help The Los Angeles Regional Foodbank feed thousands in the community. Donations will be given to the Foodbank, which will then be distributed by the Foodbank to nearly 900 charitable agencies including abused and abandoned children’s homes, battered women’s shelters, senior centers, local food pantries, soup kitchens, AIDS hospices and more.
“Sharing It” Day highlights the giving spirit that surrounds the holiday season and invites various Los Angeles small businesses, corporate and community partners to collect and deliver food and/or monetary contributions. During this time, the public is also invited to make canned and packaged food donations at the L.A. Mart. On Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2009, “Sharing It” Day partners, honored guests, city politicians and VIP dignitaries will gather at the L.A. Mart to present donations to Michael Flood, president and CEO, Los Angeles Regional Foodbank. The presentation will also include a medley of holiday songs performed by the Pilgrim School Children’s Choir.
