Woolrich has entered into a licensing agreement with Rowe Pottery Works for a full line of handcrafted dinnerware and garden drcor products.
The line will debut at the January 2010 Atlanta gift and home market.
Two dinnerware collections, Northwoods and Woodland, and garden decor including planters, pots, herb containers, bird houses and even a toad house, will be included in the inaugural launch. Retail prices will range from $25 to $200. The designs and color palettes were created to complement the brand's textiles and outdoor fabric offerings.
Northwoods celebrates the beauty of old-growth pine forests with its pine tree, pinecone, moose and bear designs on earthy tan and green backgrounds. In addition to the dinnerware, Northwoods also features serving pieces and bakeware. Each piece is handcrafted and hand-painted, then finished in a salt glaze.
The Woodland stoneware collection is reminiscent of antique earthenware with its slightly irregular, rounded shapes and tonal variations in the sycamore glaze. In addition to the full range of place setting pieces, serving pieces and bakeware will be introduced.
Garden pottery and accessories are a natural extension for the Woolrich brand, and Rowe Pottery Works has created pot and outdoor accent designs with an entirely new glazing process especially for Woolrich. Included in the initial introduction are barrel and urn planters with leaf and pinecone motifs in four matte glaze finishes—golden wheat, evergreen, clove and forest fern. Two sizes of tapered cache planters in earthy gloss-glazed tones, low-profile herb planters, a hanging birdhouse, plus bird feeders and a garden toad house round out the initial offerings.
"Rowe Pottery Works is an exciting addition to our brand partner family," said Sharon Kepley, licensing brand manager for Woolrich's home division. "They bring a celebrated heritage of handcraftsmanship and a mindful attention to practical artistry that mirrors Woolrich's 179-year history of creating classic, authentic, American apparel and home goods."
Woolrich is the first licensed line for Rowe Pottery Works and a large part of the appeal lies in "the synergy between the two brands," said Rowe's general manager, Beverly Semmann. "Our artists are hard at work interpreting classic Woolrich icons for our handmade pieces and developing new designs that resonate with the outdoor living, nature-centered families who love what the Woolrich brand represents."
