Cleveland Lighting is opening a new showroom in its original location at 5540 Mayfield Road, Lyndhurst, Ohio, on Nov. 19. Owned by Marty Bursky, the 15-year-old business is a destination for lighting, art, furniture and accessories.
On Feb. 15, 2009, the store was destroyed by a fire that occurred during the early morning hours. The business moved to a temporary location a few blocks away where it continued to operate.
"We were down, but we were not out," Bursky said. "We could have just accepted that our business was a total loss, but instead we decided to create something bigger and better. We can honestly say that we've created not only the best lighting showroom in Ohio, but one of the top facilities in the country."
Industrial designer Kristen Howard created the new interior. "Most lighting retailers display their product in what I call the salami shop way," Howard said. "We created something that enables customers to experience the impact lighting can have on a space and on their way of living, too."
In the new space, lighting is displayed in vignettes, grouped with home decor products according to design styles. The store carries more than 180 lighting lines and just became the Cleveland distributor for Swarovski crystal lighting. Design support services are available for homes, commercial properties, architects, builders and interior designers.
