Asheville, N.C. — Dwellings home furnishings store has opened a second location, in Biltmore Park Town Square. Dwellings, owned by Chris McMillan, carries rustic and industrial finds, modern upholstery, lighting and accessories. Also in Asheville, John Vieregg is opening Post & Gray, in Biltmore Station. Vieregg owns Interiors Marketplace and Post & Gray in Charlotte. The store offers high-end pieces, stock overruns and excess inventory at discount prices, and subleases space to vendors.
Mobile, Ala. — Pat LaGrange, Rebecca Rossler and Becky Nance opened Inside Up, a new downtown destination for fashion, art and home furnishings. The shop is on North Conception Street across from Bienville Square.
Mooresville, N.C. — A 100-year-old former textile mill is being converted into a retail/wholesale center for furniture and accessories. New York-based Concord Global Trading acquired the 38-acre site for $500,000 with plans to open its third Wow Home Furnishings center in May. Concord operates Wow stores in Fort Lawn, S.C., and Jefferson, Ga., also former mill sites. Home to the Mooresville Cotton Mill in 1898, the mill, which contains 755,000 square feet of indoor space, operated most recently as a Burlington Industries plant.
Memphis, Tenn. — Furnishings designer/wholesaler Worlds Away has opened its second outlet, in Midtown Memphis, at 2159 Central Ave. The outlet store is called Worlds Apart.
Port Orchard, Wash. — Brenda K's Home Gallery reopened at 818 Bay St. downtown next to the historic Orchard Theater. The shop offers an eclectic mix of home furnishings, accessories, framed photos, artwork, candles, lamps and antique furniture.
Pawtucket, R.I. — Artee Home, an upscale textiles and home furnishings store, will open in the 22,000-sq.-ft. historic Toole Building at 228-230 Main Street. The store also has a location in Wesport, Conn.
Fredericksburg, Va. — Encore Home Gallery opened at 3110 Cowan Blvd., selling new and consignment furniture and accessories. Its owner is Richard Nehrboss.
Webster Groves, Mo. — Hill House Designs opened at 135 W. Monroe in Kirkwood. Owned by Melinda Kenkel, Hill House carries home accessories, window treatments, gifts, frames and candles.
New York — Woodstock Organic Mattress opened in Chelsea. The store carries organic and latex mattresses made by W.J. Southard. The store also stocks Ekla Home upholstered furniture and a full line of organic bedding accessories, solid hardwood bed frames and hand-woven decorative pillows. The showroom, located on the 11th floor at 132-136 West 21st St., is open to the public on weekends and by appointment during the week.
Wexford, Pa. — Levin Furniture has opened a 53,000-sq.-ft. store in Wexford Plaza, replacing a smaller store in greater Pittsburgh. The store on Perry Highway opened in October with a mix of mid-priced goods that includes sustainable home furnishings, and private-label and name-brand furniture.
