More thoughts from vendors at High Point Market

April 26, 2009

More "positive thoughts" from some of the home accents vendors who are here in High Point this week:

Andrea Sadek, of Andrea by Sadek, said she believes that as times get tough, people will refocus on improving their homes and creating a sanctuary. “I’m optimistic that people are spending more time in their home and more time with their family,” Sadek said. “Women will still want to set a beautiful table… have a beautiful flower arrangement. People still want their home environment to be inviting. “Everyone is going to need to have a few nice things that make them feel good.”

Edward Leshansky, director of marketing for Fine Art Lamps, said history tells him that there are reasons to be optimistic. “We’ve been in business for over 60 years and this is not the first recession,” Leshansky said. “This one is different, but there are similarities. This is when market share is gained or lost.” He said Fine Art Lamps is focusing on its core competencies – design and innovation. “We understand that this is a difficult economy,” he said. “But we know that by virtue of our legacy, we will always have a market for our fixtures.”

Kristine Scotto, vice president of sales for Company C, said the company is staying on the bright side celebrating its 15th anniversary with a party Monday night. “We have no doom and gloom to report here,” she said. “It’s all about color and design. We have bright, colorful inspiring product. We have the right stuff.” Scotto said Company C is starting off market on a positive note in a new showroom location, which is twice the size of the previous one. “Our new space combined with our 15th anniversary gives us a lot to celebrate.”
